Welcome to Crossroads Beekeepers!

The club is based in Effingham, IL with members in many surrounding counties and cities. Our meetings usually consist of a discussion about what is going on in the hive and what the beekeeper should be thinking about to manage their bees. We also like for people to bring a snack food or drink to share for refreshments, although not required.

We welcome anyone interested in beekeeping; you don't need to be a member to attend.

Introducing the Crossroads Beekeepers Swarm Catching web page. We want a quick link to a multitude of Beekeepers in the region listed for each county. Please click the image below to find someone who can catch your swarm!

Next meeting will be on May 31st, 2026

Field day this year will be at Larry Quicksall's house on Sunday May 31st. Our field day will be a pot luck dinner so bring a dish of your choice. We will check out Larry's Bee yard and dive into a hive or two. Larry's homestead is Northeast of Stewardson. We will hand out directions at our next meeting. There is a variety of animals on Larry's homestead. Bees might be the most exciting but, the goats are a great attraction from pigmy to fainting goats.

Samantha Dubbs is an Entomology Ph.D. student working with Dr. Adam Dolezal and Dr. May Berenbaum at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. I am reaching out to beekeeping associations throughout Illinois to recruit beekeepers for a propolis-related project.

Sam did a presentation on The Wonderful World of Propolis. She did a great job explaining what propolis is and how it is made. The history and the scientific benefits of Propolis.
